CV Top Tips
Your CV is your own personal blue print of your history in the work environment. Employers are looking at you through this printed piece of paper. So how this reflects you must be specifically aimed at that employer. Below are the main tips for you to consider when creating or updating your CV. 1. What makes you unique? In most cases you are going to be in competition with many other applicants and that means you are going to have to stand out. It not always about having specific skills, a company needs to make money so show that you can solve solutions and give evidence that you have a track record with this. 2. Keep it Clear (layout) Employers spend very little time looking at an individual CV so it will need to impress quick and clear. The employer will not go looking for the skills etc that he or she may be impressed by so don’t go hiding these essential areas in a mass of text. 3. Customize your CV to suit If you have a good CV template to work from, then using this to customize the CV to suit the particular job that you are applying for is essential. Remember you’re trying to get to that interview and that’s what matters. 4. Show no errors It is so simple to make type errors or spelling errors etc so be meticulous in proof reading it once it is completed. Get someone else to proof read it for you. Once the employer gets it, then it’s almost impossible to change it if you do notice a problem. 5. Keep CV Updated As you go about your daily business you may be picking up new skills and achievements etc and these may be essential reading for a future employer so don’t forget to document them by updating your CV. Look at your CV every so often to add or subtract what you see as necessary. Create A Cover Letter Create A Personal Profile |
